Bought me a cheap floor jack from WalMart for my Spitfire. One I bought =
many years ago had a lifting brace only on one side and was rated IIRC =
at 2000 pounds. Finally the brace gave way. The WalMart replacement had =
braces on both sides and would lift 3500 pounds =E2=80=93 including my =
wife=E2=80=99s car (Kia Rondo) or my trailer with the race car on it. =
Downside, doesn=E2=80=99t quite get low enough to get under the car, =
solved with simple ramps built from a stack of 1x6s. Key factor =
=E2=80=93 in my garage the nifty Harbor Freight jacks don=E2=80=99t work =
because there isn=E2=80=99t room to swing that loooong handle, while the =
WalMart jack has this little short handle (yeah it takes 40 pumps to =
reach fully-up, but I don=E2=80=99t need NASCAR pitstop speed). And =
it=E2=80=99s small enough and light enough to fit snugly in my tow =
vehicle.=20

My Harbor Freight 3,000 lb jack just gave up after about ten years. =
Before I buy another one, any other recommendations, or ones to stay =
away from? I'm looking for light weight and a fair price - will pay =
something extra for quality if there's a good argument for it.=20
