IB have been in the hose and fitting business for nearly 30 years so here is
my 2 centsB worth.B
- the hose end which is the flare end:B make sure to follow the instructions
that were posted earlier.B Never use any and sealant on the flare end.B As
some of you have noted it is a metal to metal sealB so look for nicks on the
face and the mating hose fitting or tube.B Nicks equalB leaks.
- the port end:B ifB it a taper thread like a pipe thread or BSPT
youB shouldB use a sealant.B If it is a straight thread like an SAE,B BSPP,
ISO or MetricB it needB a seal.B If it is a pipe thread the SAE standard for
assembly is 2 turns past finger tight for a straight fitting and 1.5 turns for
an elbow and then tighten the fitting to line up with the hose or tube.
- 37 degree (JIC/AN) and 45 degree (SAE) you should use the correct hose end
to match.B with that said there are certainB size hose ends that are dual
seat.B TheB supplier will note that on their fittings in their catalog.
Hope this helpsB out.

The ones which do leak are from A-1 performance plumbing.
I also have some more bought of another brand which are seal and dust dry.
And with the dry sump tank sitting high a lot of oil is leaving the hoses
after a while.
Like a lake district.

I bet since they are new they are not galling but at the same time I have
had them sort of hang up when tightening them. Drop a drop of the same oil
you use in the engine on the threads and also in the inside of the fittings
where they spin on themselves to seal. Not the 37 degree angle of the
fitting where they seal but back inside where the cap and or nut spins on
the fitting. That keeps them from trying to bind when you tighten them and
if you have the correct fitting mating with the correct matching male/female
ends they will not leak.
What brand fittings are these???B Are you sure they are the correct ends to
mate together as there are other degree of angle ends other than the common
37 degree ones we all typically use. If you got some different ones mixed
together they will leak.

The oils seeps through the taper.
When I opened the packet with the connectors there were no o-rings supplied.
Is this an extra order?

Chris,
Some fittings are made to use a rubber o-ring. My sandwich plate AN fittings
will leak without the o-rings, Is it the flared side that leaks or is it the
non-flared side ?

Hi @ all,
hope you are getting well to the next year.
My car has many oil lines and also a lot of aluminum connectors and some of
the them do leak.
Is there any trick to seal them?
I think that I have tighten them enough and hesitate to tighten more not to
destroy them.
Is there a seal missing in those connectors?

Just an example what I mean for the system.
Cheers
Chris
