I think you're talking about a vacupan system (see below) these were popular
years ago. They were outlawed long before I served on the CRB, as I
remember it there were concerns about fires if the "one way" valves at the
header collector were to fail.
You can get the same results with a dry sump system that will pull the
crankcase into vacuum, without being tied to the exhaust system.
