One thing I learned a lot of years ago with Spitfire engines was that when
installing any composite head gasket, I should get everything torqued and
adjusted cold then run the engine up to operating temperature, and quickly
retorque the head while it is still hot.
I found that following that technique, I have never had a blown head gasket
and I find that it requires more than a little extra turning to bring the
torque back to the correct setting.
