Tim, I sent my stock crank to Shaftech, in Fostoria OH and all bearings
to Callies Performance, also in Fostoria. Shaftech nitrided the crank
(which now rings like a forged crank) and measured the journal
diameters. I then contacted Callies and told them what clearances I
wanted. They coated the shells with their magic goop and I had them
back in less than a week. Great service from both companies. If you
have Shaftech work on the crank, be sure to clean the galleries well,
they weren't as clean as I would have liked.
You may recall that Tony had his shells treated (by Calico?) a few years
ago and reported no wear after one season.
