Subaru and Datsun 510 do share a diff that is similar. I believe the diff is
manufactured by Hitachi Heavy Industry's. Outward appearances are the same and
when they first appeared in Subaru's they were the same on the inside, right
down to the clutch type LSD. Over the course of time, up to today, Subaru's
still uses the same diff case but has changed to viscous LSD (not good in this
case for racing) and changed the way the stub axles are retained so the side
plate and ring carrier is different. One of the websites out there details
installing the Datsun/Subaru diff in a GT6/Spitfire. Do a google search.
