After I figured out my FoT email address was wrong, I posted some older posts
referencing David and my GT6 ( DP ) engine build...so, a belated Merry
Christmas and Happy New Year to all my pals on FoT!!
Racing with the Corinthian Vintage Racing group last November, I was on hand
when one of my fellow racers, Herb Hilton ( Pinnacle Racing ) somehow got off
track and AIRBORN upside down at least 6 feet in the air. Now, Herb, who is
very very fast and well prepared in his now totaled Sprite Midget ( Spridget )
is kind of admired and looked up to in my group and club... fortunately all his
safety gear worked even though he landed upside down too.
It made me acutely aware that ANY of us who race can find ourselves in a
dangerous or fatal situation. When I purchased my GT6 from Bob Davis, there was
the additional hardware to make the GT6 a full race cage... I know it will add
weight, and I'm already struggling to squeeze 198 pounds of lean mean training
machine into the GT6... but.... I think I'm going to do it.... face it...
anyone of us could get sideways at any time... heck... I know I've been close
in three years of racing... so, it won't make me faster but I know it will make
me safer.... gonna do it before February race if I can squeeze it into my fab
shop...
Be safe.... Bobby Whitehead
