I know nothing about Carter fuel pumps.
I have been using Facet Silver Top Competition Unit part # 480530 for some
years now, with no issues.
I also use a Malpassi Filter King Fuel Regulator, (the one without the
filter)
I would NOT use a Triple Webers without an adjustable fuel regulator.
I use a Stewart Warner electric Fuel Pressure gauge to keep an eye on what is
happening.
Ideal fuel pressure for my set-up seems to be between 1= - 2= psi depending
on whether I am driving in town or on the interstate, (my car is a fast road
rather than a race car).
For filters, I use the glass cylinders with renewable nylon filters, although
for race use you may prefer to use something without glass, but I advise to
avoid paper filters.
