Might try consulting with Charles Runyon of TRF......he has a TR5 and
can advise re problems & availability of "special" parts.

Tim, just a quick "AMEN" to Bill. He knows more about TR-250's (and
thus TR-5's) than just about anybody I've ever met. He was running one
regularly when we motored together in New Jersey nearly 30 yrs ago. His
advice is likely to be as good as it gets.
