In my past involvement with TRs and VTR over the last
30 years, I've only actually seen maybe a 1/2 dozen TR-5s that
found their way to North America. As to spares,
most all TR-250 and much TR-4A stuff is identical or
usable. The differences are really just the PI and some
cosmtics (i.e. badging). That stuff can probably
be obtained from UK suppliers if needed. Remember too that
all UK TR-6s uses the same PI, so it isn't rare at all
in the UK and Europe.

I'll defer to those that may have actual experience with
the PI unit. I would, however, want
a spare available in my garage if I owned one myself.

Well very nice TR-250s have been bringing $10,000 to $20,000.
If the TR-5 is restored correctly it certainly would be a very rare
car here in the USA and Canada. Total TR-5 production was
only about 3000 units. TR-250s, all of which came to the
USA and Canada totalled 8484 units. As to "investments"....I always
recommend CDs over cars.

That depends on what state you live in. NJ exemps all vehicles registered
as antique/collector vehicle (which must be 25 or over) from any state
inspection.
