I have an over-active imagination for mechanical things. I can picture the
axle flexing and what it's doing to the bearings and shaft. Not pretty. If
the flexing is enough to push the pucks back (and we all know it is) then
the outside edge of the disk is moving at least 1/8". That's got to be
transferring all the load on the outer bearing to a single roller or two at
the top of the bearing. And they're little guys, and they don't have much of
a way to retain grease--it all gets squeezed to the big empty void between
the bearings. You'd think the races would pound out.

Gee, I forgot to mention how much I like mine. I need to take off the 2
pound residual pressure valve because my front brakes are dragging. I still
give a test pump going into some turns, but the brakes are always right
there. Pretty soon my brain will recalibrate and I'll come to actually
expect the brakes to be there.
Not only that, but I really like the fact that I can torque the nut onto the
axle. That's simply a nice thing. I always had a problem with setting up
bearings to have the right amount of drag. It's amazing that the old way
works at all.

Amici,
I have produced another batch of spacers and upgraded axles for big TRs.
They are available though Ken Gillander at British Frame and Engine.
Thanks
