bearing cap woes

Just a little follow-up on the bearing cap misalignment problem I wrote about
yesterday. Following my new machinists line of thought, I tried loosening the
center cap and tapping it over into alignment, and that is exactly what
happened. There is enough free play between the bolts and cap and it fits fine
now. I feel water dripping from behind my ears!
