I think you are right in concluding that you've still got too high a
pressure. Most books say that the center temperature should be no more
than a few degrees hotter or colder than the edges. If you are running 2-3
degrees of camber at normal ride height then you're almost bound to have a
hotter inside edge when everything else is right.
The most effective way to decrease lap times is to increase your corner
exit speed on the critical corners that open onto straights. Tire pressure
is a last minute suspension adjustment that you can make anytime to adjust
for a track. A lot of the answer is whatever gives you confidence in the
car. When you carry a higher mid-corner speed the tire will heat
differently.
If you really want to calibrate your tires, find a place to use as a skid
pad. Driving round and round in a 100 foot circle at the limit of what
you're car is capable of will give you a pretty absolute figure for tire
temperatures.
