Yesterday I took delivery of a brand new 1964 TRIUMPH TR4. I purchased this
car in 1982 from my son, who decided he needed money for courting his future
wife. I have had it stored inside since 1982. I always had plans for
building a street rod with this car, using a 1968 Buick aluminum V8 engine.
But as some of the faithful might consider that a sacrilege, last November we
decided to pursue a more conventional total frame off restoration. Uncle
Jack Drews choreographed the entire effort. Kevin Potter built the engine
using a lot of old 'race stuff' off our shelf. The engine's been ported,
polished, and relieved. It has 3/4 race cam, and a lightened fly wheel. You
should hear the mellow, throaty exhaust...the result of using a 'Smitty Glass
Pack" muffler. Remember them? My wife Shirley footed the bills (I'm
completely out of money...the result of a vintage racing addiction). This
car is a joy to behold, and even more fun to drive. If it is not the best
one in the country...it sure ain't our fault. I had trouble getting Jack
Drews to deliver it. He kept describing his 'six year FREE Road Test
Program'.
If you'd like to see a picture contact me Off List, and I will send one.
