What kinds of tools are required to install these? If I buy one from you
would I have to have Bill Perry install it? He is the closest to me I
think.
I have a TR6 racecar. I presently have a Quaife that overheats and
occasionally spins when I hit the FIA curbing.

Subject: Re: Phantom Grip LSD
I have had Phantom Grip make some units for Triumphs, The Spitfire/GT6
unit #
905 gold is made for the later housing but will fit the early models
with a
little modification, The Upgraded green spring kits are also available.
The
TR unit #904 green fits TR2 to TR6 & has a shim kit for this application
along with the green race springs.
Phantom Grip has a history of SCCA racing and has marketed this product
for
the last several years toward the FWD cars. Bill Perry at Rivergate
racing in
Tenn. is the only other person using/selling these for British cars,
after
trying them on his SCCA racecars, he is now the sole Dist. for the
Spridgets
units. I am the only one to make the conversions for Triumphs.
I tested one on my 1147 FP vintage Spitfire at California Speedway with
VARA
last month and was very impressed by the smoothness of the unit, after
racing
this car for 10 years with a Detroit locker & locked diff's I didn't
notice
any performance change except the smoothness. We have installed a unit
in
Allen Wiens Spitfire in our shop & will install another in a Sprite
before
our next race at Buttonwillow in a few weeks, Steve Smith has bought one
for
his very fast GT6 & Paul Smock informs me he is installing one in the
Devin
TR3 he is helping build for John Miller, so testing results are coming.
Nigel
at SPIT BITS & Scot at TEAM TRIUMPH will also be selling these through
my
shop.
The Spitfire/GT6 #905 gold sells for $299 the spring kits $30
The TR unit# 904 green is $349
I will sell to FOT members for $270 for the Spits & $315 for the TR's.
The Dealer in Texas selling the Dodge Neon units for $270 needs to talk
about
the lifetime warranty if he is going to put these in Triumphs.
Please check www.phantomgrip.com or call me with any questions.
