If you missed it in the news, here's an auto related Thanksgiving item:
The owner of 4 Pick Your Part yards in LA area bought 400 live turkeys as a
promo. His customers could win a chance to buy a turkey for $.25 then go
"chase it down" in the yard. When news of his promo got out, he was shut down
by a governing agency. No, it wasn't the EPA or OSHA. The folks at PETA
(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) called in the Humane Society.
They felt the chase would cause undue stress on the turkeys. The owner said
the birds were so lazy and stupid, you could just reach down and pick one up.
He gave most of the birds to charities that are going to slaughter them (no
chasing involved!) for free Thanksgiving dinners. Now he's hidden paper
turkeys in his yards that can be redeemed for a frozen bird. Happily, the
owner says the news story has been fantastic for his business!
Happy Thanksgiving!
