I heartly second the nomination of Chris Swingler to the Friends of
Triumph. For those of you on the list with both Spitfires and TR7s, you will
find Chris to be wealth of experience and knowledge.
For over twenty years, Chris both maintained and raced the Australian
"Playboy" TR7. The Australia "Playboy' TR7 used the dolomite sprint engine.
Over the years, Chris has develope very special expertise with the dolomite
sprint engines and TR7s. He currently races a TR7 dolomite sprint car in
which he frequently wins in timing events against equivalently powered TR8s.
For those interested in Group 44 racing history, the Australian
"Playboy" TR7 originallly race by "Wild Bill" Evans to the Australian
championship under sponsorship of Bristish Leyland and Playboy sponsorship.
British Leyland - Australia purchased to car originally from Group 44, it was
the SCCA DP TR7 that Tullius/McComb raced in their last year of SCCA Club
racing in 1976.
As Ian mentioned, both his brother and he have racing Triumphs for a
long time. I see his participation on FOT as a great addition to FOT list.
