I hate intermittent problems!
As I mentioned in my last update on this problem I had tried a different
coil which fixed the problem but when reconnecting the original coil the
misfire would not return. I run the car again last night but the misfire
appears to be gone. The only thing I can think of that caused this is a bad
connection on the coil. I am now going to put new connectors onto the coil
wires, and hopefully that was the problem!
Trouble is I don't think I have seen the last of it, but you cant fix it
when you can't repeat the problem! Annoying!
I have a lot of work to complete for my next race as I am going to change
my clutch and fix some sump bolt threads, as well as repainting the drivers
side from a minor impact during the race!

Just for info I have ruled out the condenser. I also tried another coil and
the misfire was gone, but I then reconnected the original coil and misfire
would not return. Intermittent problems are the worst! I have had to stop
running the engine as my neighbours are not very tolerant with my loud
spitty. I will try it again tomorrow from cold as this is the most reliable
way to get the misfire to occur.

I have not had a chance to check anything yet but I have purchased a new
dissy cap, rotor arm, and condenser. I am beginning to think its the
condenser but I will find out soon enough as I plan to do some
investigative work this evening. I have received some totally different
suggestions which I will try should this fail.

Something to consider is the fuse that supplies the ignition. The glass
tube type of fuse can look perfect yet pass electricity when it decides
to, and not when the mood strikes.. This can cause no end of grief. It is
a cheap test and worth checking first.
