After buying a new one for the first race engine, I used what looked to be a
good used one for my new engine.
I suspect the material properties are not as good on the current production
gears, as well.

<< I had purchased a back up spare for Scrappy from Moss a few months ago.
Not
only are the holes 'straight up', but the teeth are not as wide, making me
think the chain will ride in a different place (like looser).
Most vehicles did not come with the ability to dial in cam timing, so I'm
sure it's not perceived as being necessary.
