Teflon Tape and fuel lines

I have been fighting a nagging problem of a small fuel leak where a brass 
fitting screws into my fuel pump.  I have tightened it until
it won't turn any more, but still it seeps fuel.

My question is: Has anyone used teflon tape on fuel lines and will it be eaten 
up by fuel?"
