Hi Gang

Since Jack Wheeler asked about the TR4 vibration damper I decided to look
up when this was fitted in production. Quoting from an original Standard
Triumph Service sheet ref 2/53 May 1963 from the Allesley Service
Department the details are as follows:

"A vibration damper was incorporated on TR4 models at approximately
commission number CT.18000.

The damper, which is attached to the gearbox or overdrive rear extension,
may also be fitted in service if necessary. It consists of a steel weight
with a silent bloc type of rubber bush pressed into the centre through
which a fixing bolt passes. A clip attached to the end of the gearbox
extension supports the weight and a steady bracket is bolted to the
existing anti rattle strap (see illustration).

Orders should be placed with the Spares Division and the following part
numbers apply.

Damper 132604 Nut YN.2910
Clip 132607 Bolt HB.0811
Strap 132608 Bolt HU.0806
Bolt HB.1024 Nut (2) YN.2908
Washer WN.0069

The fitting of the damper will only reduce vibration between engine speeds
of 2700 and 3000RPM and any other vibration must be investigated
independently.

Fitting instructions are shown in the illustration and a Warranty labour
time of 3.5 hours will be accepted".
