Environmental moisture finds its way into your car=E2=80=99s hydraulic syst=

ch function in the =E2=80=9976 BMW 3.0 Si I used to own because a little be=
ad of water that had collected in the lowest point in the system, which hap=
pened to be the clutch slave cylinder, froze=E2=80=94and then, when I pushe=
d in the clutch pedal the first thing in the morning, that little ice chunk=
 tore the seal.

ctually dot 3 / 4 is actually much more of a culprit.

That was the first DOT 4 rated fluid I started using, probably 30 years ago=
, in brakes and clutch hydraulics.

Have to do some research for a successor. I would still avoid silicone-base=
d fluid for any car that sits a lot. Water will collect and rust the line.
