Interesting story, Dan. Looks like the guy's mistake was trying to sell them before Wisconsin's 25-year rule might have helped. Maryland has a law about serial number plates and stampings, mostly applied to firearms. Those without are melted down. But they aren't sold on the open market. Putting the car there was a good way to provoke authorities. I wasn't real impressed by a response said to be from the guy himself among posted comments, suggesting he would have waited until a potential buyer came and laid money on the table before disclosing there was no title. Good way to provoke the buyer. Article says he's got 'the means,' = $$; maybe he could have gotten a better lawyer.
