Do you have a wiring diagram? If not, download one for your year from
311s.org. Look for a bad connection.
Just dealt with a similar issue with the fuel gauge on my '67-1/2 2000.
Worked sometimes, then finaly quit. Turned out to be combination of things,
but one was a bad connection where the dash harness links with the rear
harness.
Most people's experiences, at least as I have read, are that roadster clocks
don't work very well. The clock in my '66 1600 gains about 1 minute a
day -- very reliably. There's an adjustment on the back if I were ambitious
enough to take it out and play with it. I have learned to reset it whenever
I get in for the first time each day. The clock in my '67-1/2 2000 keeps
perfect time -- over weeks. Go figure.
