OH PLEASE! I've seen hubs get bent or damaged with big hammers.
Take the assemblies to your local parts store or other shop that has a
hydraulic press. The press will put a nice even & constant pressure on the
hub center to ease the pieces apart.
It feels so good on release! :)

Don't hit it with anything.
The proper tool is a press. If you don't have one, a machine shop will.
Take the whole assembly to the guy who's machining the rotors and let him
press the hub out of the rotor.
