You will need to get some heat on the stem BEFORE you try to pry off the
pointer. (I use a small soldering iron) The factory uses a very nasty adhesive
that keeps the pointer and the hand-staff mated for life so if you try to use
brute force without any heat then you will most likely damage the instrument.
You will also need?a calibrated source to get the pointer re-attached in the
correct location?once you're done.?Especially since?most of these speedo's are
off a country mile before you even?started.?Don't forget to balance the pointer
(if you paint it) because an out of balance pointer can throw your readings off
by as much as 20 MPH.
?
Hope this helps?

Subject: [Roadsters] How to remove speedo needle
Hello list,
I'm going to take a stab at white facing my gauges, does anyone know how to
remove the speedo needle off the itty bitty shaft it's connected to? It's the
only thing that keeps me from getting at the actual gauge face. Thanks all,
