I don't think there is reason to worry...
At the last Solvang roadster show there were 3 "modified" non-race roadsters
and about 79 stock(paint, interior, wheels) cars!
However I think the number of "restored to stock" cars definitely beats the
original surviors...

Subject: Re: [Roadsters] Stock versus modified
I know I'll never win the argument but, I agree with Sid. The reality is
there aren't many clean originals left. With the low production numbers and
the fact that convertibles left out in the elements suffer more than
hardtops,
means clean Roadsters will be harder to find.
So, it's up to the buyer to decide stock or modified. You're going to spend
loads of cash, either way. Right now, the fad is hot rods and muscle cars.
So, we're seeing more and more modifieds. I'd like to see the balance tip
back
to stock cars. Looking at machinery designed in a different era is much more
interesting to me. I've seen the Barrett-Jackson auction in Phoenix go from
old Cadillacs, Packards, La Salles, to non-stop Chevelles, Camaros,
Mustangs,
and Hot Rods. Once you've seen a big block Chevy stuffed into everything
from
a bar stool to a Lincoln Zephyr, you tend to lose interest.
My 2 cents.

Well, here is my not too humble opinion. If you have a clean original, you
are doing a disservice to the automotive community by doing modifications
other than wheels and paint colors.
