I gather there is some kind of trick to installing the reverse light switch
into the side of the transmission, to have it function properly. I have tried
2 new ones, the reverse lamp either doesn't come on at all when shifted to
reverse, or it stays on all the time no matter what gear it's in. I've tried
inserting it with the lever already engaged in reverse, in neutral, or in each
of the other gears. The lamp circuit appears good as the lamp will light when
the wires going to the switch are brought together.
When the circuit is activated with the switch outside (not installed) of the
transmission, the light comes on until the plunger tip is depressed. Plunger
out - light on, plunger in - light out.
Any Help, please?
