Dave,
I needed to roll the lip on my rear fenders several years ago. I used a
2' length of pipe, about 2" in diameter. You need a helper on this,
mainly to keep the pipe positioned and let you know when something looks
wrong.
Get the car on level, smooth surface, with at least 30' behind the car.
Insert the pipe between the front of the tire and the wheel well lip.
Now, slowly back up and the pipe will roll in between the fender and the
tire. Keep the pipe in line with the center of the wheel so it will
continue to roll until lip clears the back of the tire. Check the
clearance and repeat if necessary.
The fender will bow out while the pope is ion there, but it will come
back into place when the pipe passes. All you are doing is rolling the
lip on the inside of the fender up. Using a pipe makes for a smooth
roll, something a hammer won't give you.
