My normal cost of the items was much more than what Lou reported. I went to
each manufacture of the prizes that were given and requested a 50 % discount
below normal cost to help provide higher dollar prizes and more prices for this
meet and to support the roadster community. In order to make this happen I had
to increase my spending and buy signicant inventory that I do not readily need
to show my support of the product.
Out of the goodness of their hearts some of these manufacturers adjusted the
pricing accordingly. This was alot of effort and work for me to do this. Noone
sells an item at 50% below their cost. As I said before I could simply sell
these items for full tilt list. The reality is I could have made money on
these parts and chose to give up any possibility in doing so by making them
available at the meet for the price of a raffle ticket.
I will be forwarding these emails as they roll in to the gracious
manufacturers that worked to supply these parts. Frankly they will feel quite
the slap in the face when they see them.

To Steve and all attendees and Solvang Participants:
I think it is wrong for people to post threads like this when the individuals
involved have no idea what they are talking about.
Every year we contact vendors to donate prizes to the Solvang Datsun Roadster
Show, and we are greatful to all who participate and who donate.
Over the last few years many participants have expressed disatisfaction with
the fact that vendors provided Gift Certificates that required something to be
purchased.
This thread was started by someone who wants to Discredit Dean Apostle and
Fairlady products and not thank anyone for what was a wonderful show and it is
disgusting!!
I personally handled this transaction and want to end this right here and now!
The FresnoDROC group last year made a profit from the show of $500 based on the
Raffle Tickets sales, etc. We took it upon ourselves to use that extra money to
purchase better prizes then in previous years for this show. When I sat down
with Dean we worked out a list of prizes that we wanted to get for the show and
Mr.Apostle listed to us what was his cost for the items.
When our list was completed, Mr. Apostle's cost for the items in question
totaled more than $700 dollars, since the club only had $500 to spend Mr.
Apostle donated the remaining value out of his pocket, which we appreciate very
much!!
Mr Peterson also stated "I was involved in organizing a fairly large car show
in Northern Ca. for several years and I've never seen that before" I think that
is great, but I know for a fact that a similar thing is done by the Modesto
Datsun Roadster Group with prizes for the Mt. Shasta Datsun Roadster Meet where
they also purchase prizes at cost.
To say that Mr. Apostle did not donate anything is FALSE!!! To say what he did
was wrong is STUPID!! If you want to blame someone blame ME!! If you want to do
away with show based on petty bitterness between vendors and false accusations
like this, we can end this show now and forget we ever had one.
I am sick and tired at people on this list who have nothing better to do than
tear down an individual who does nothing but support the roadster community as
a whole. I am totally disgusted!!
