Following Pat's advice, I opened up the instrument voltage regulator and it
was clean inside, no corrosion at all.
Then I see this insulated white wire wrapped around the leaf spring/contact.
I follow it to the circuit board where this little clip grounds it to the
case! The case which I left zip tied to the speedo cable since I mounted a
shock sensor in it's place.
Added a little ground wire and my gauges aren't pegged anymore.
I also picked up a "loud" 2 prong flasher at kragen's for $11. I can hear
it clicking when the car is off, barely audible with the engine running.
Forget about hearing it with the top down! I'm going to return it and try
wiring in one of those headlight reminder beepers instead.
