Don't use Naval Jelly on aluminum. You can get Aluminum Jelly and other
aluminum specific cleaners. Several companies make spray-on wheel cleaners
formulated for specific finishes like raw, polished or coated. Read the
labels carefully. I'd try to use the one for the type of finish on your
wheels.
I actually used spray on oven cleaner and scotch brite pads on the engine
compartment of one of my 510s to remove rusty residue from a coolant leak.
It actually took the gloss off of the surface but I was getting ready to
paint it anyway so cutting the gloss helped the new paint stick.
If there is paint on the wheels you can try paint remover and/or lacquer
thinner. To help those work you might use scrub brushes and maybe scotch
brite type pads. Wear rubber gloves and eye protection anytime you do
something like this. Also rinse anything you use completely, especially if
you plan to paint or clear coat the wheels.
