> Fergus O, 69 2000 in the midst of alt swap, HB, CA
Fergus,
I too just swaped alternators. I haven't gotten the electrical working yet,
but it's all bolted up. I had to mix and match parts to get all the mounting
hardware to clear and bolt up where they're supposed to.
The GM-delco alt on the 311 site was only $20+15 core at autozone. It did
start charging when I first installed it, but it quickly blew the 30a fuse
when I revved it off the 30a scale. This is on a fully charged battery.
I replaced the fuse but was unable to get the alternator to kick in after
that. I even tried hooking up a temporary indicator light. I'm thinking its
a bad regulator in the new alternator, so I'm going to exchange it for
another one this weekend. Maybe I can stop by this weekend if you can use
some help?
