The ones I have seen crack and break were where they had been notched twice and drilled through in the same place for interlock pins and balls. These broke without shearing the original pins. As I recall it was the first-second rod on the early 4 speed. The later four speed dropped the through hole making for a stronger design. keith > > > I stand corrected.
