They sure are! You can easily modify a '68- '70 1600 to accept a U20
engine or a '68-'70 2000 to accept a R16 engine. If I recall correctly,
the only changes would be the transmission hump area and you have to modify
the temperature sending wire. The engine mounts are in the same
configuration though. You'd also have to use whatever engines transmission
mount. Good luck!!
