Probably a tired starter. Because of the location of the starter, near the header, it gets 'heat soaked' and that makes it less efficient resulting in your problem. After all these years it's probably been drenched. Not an uncommon problem with other kinds of cars and which is why some companies make insulating blankets for starters. I'd get a new starter rather than get stuck some place, although these cars can easily be push started. Mike |
