Joe,
What you have described is a set of after market race/rally
type bonnet pins. They are used to either replace or
supplement the factory latch.
The 4 smaller holes are for round steel trim plates that finish
off the install and protect the paint from damage by the metal
pins that go through the holes on the large studs.
