If the cam was replaced or new lifters installed you need to run the engine for at least 20 minutes at about 2500 rpms. This breaks in the lifters and cam (if applicable) and all good engine builders would agree. If you don't want to go to the trouble of spinning your oil pump counter-clockwise with your reversible drill, then pull out the plugs and disconnect the high tension lead and let the starter motor build up oil pressure.
