Mark me down as one that agrees with that sentiment. While I love high
horsepower, I love driving a capable car with low horsepower hard over
driving a high horsepower car easy. Probably the car I've enjoyed driving
the most was my '82 RX-7 with only 100hp. And with that rotary engine, it
loved running at 100% all day long (of course I paid for it at the pumps,
down to 12mpg once)

I agree with Paul.
With all the traffic around the country HP isn't all that important to me,
but speeding tickets are. I've met guys who have tons of HP but where are
they going to use it?
My Roadster and certainly my Miata aren't super fast but they are a blast to
drive around those curvy roads. Actually underpowered cars can be neater to
drive as you can really slam on them and not get into too much trouble. HP
can bring unanticipated problems.
