I purchased a set of these headlights
from an eBay seller last year. The
roadster listing went too high, so I
looked at the other auctions and
purchased from the Austin America
auction - no bids... They seem to be
nice, but I have not spent much time
driving at night, and I have not driven
where I could really use the better
performance these lights should give
over the original sealed beams.
Whether coincidence, or excess load, I
did blow one 10 Amp headlight fuse,
which caused a dim left headlamp (blown
fuse side), and a bright right side
lamp. It drove me crazy looking for a
ground problem before I remembered to
look for the obvious first. I still
suspect a ground issue, but rewiring the
headlight circuit will fix that.
Upgrading the wiring as suggested
earlier is a good idea that I will be
doing soon if the winter projects get
finished and I have time before I put
Mr. Hyde on the road again.
Speaking of fuses, my car had mostly
original fuses with paper labels inside
of the glass. I still have several of
this type of fuse as spares, but I carry
boxes of new 3AG-10 and 3AG-20 fuses in
the glove box. I blew a fuse in the
middle of a turn that left me with the
impression that there was no fuel until
I noticed a few other things did not
work as well. I think the older fuses
may be deteriorating, because the only
fuses I have blown are the 35 year old
fuses.

I have original Hella H-4 lights on two
of my vehicles. I absolutely love
them. They produce bright white light.
I don't care for the new blue headlight
systems. The auction is now up to $58.
That is about the price you can buy
true Hellas for. It looks as if the
lights listed on ebay are copies. Try
summit racing for new Hellas.
Good Luck,
