Most recently that was my 1600 with SUs. Front float sank. Just pull the
4 screws out of the top of the float chamber and disconnect the overflow
tube, then the lid come right off. I had a brass float that was full of
gas. Replaced it with a plastic float from another set of carbs, works
like a champ

Subject: Leaking gas from carb on startup
I know this was just discussed but I was not paying attention. On start
up, my carbs eject an enormous amount of fuel from the overflow hoses.
Once it starts, the gas overflow stops. I did notice it overflow again
as it died when cold yesterday.
I run and electric fuel pump. Am I right to suspect the floats in the
carbs?
