I've thought about the hard tonneau cover before since both of my vinyl
tonneau covers flap a bit too much when at highway speeds (the portion that
covers the passenger seat). And we all know that our roadsters look oh so
cool with the tonneau opened up just for the driver. I think Mazda had a
single-seat roadster at one of the recent car shows, looked very cool!
My recent thought was to take the perfectly good hardtop I have for my
'69-2000 and make it into a targa top or folding hardtop. I think one of
the newer Mercedes (Kompressor?) has a folding hardtop, only mine wouldn't
be quite so automatic and mine would have a bit more duct tape and bailing
wire! I have a history of taking perfectly good working objects and
"improving" them so much that they become worthless. I once made a targa
out of a '73 MGB-GT I owned, looked *very* cool and made the MG enthusiasts
just shake their heads.
Anyway, if I ruin my (never used, easy to come-by another) hardtop, and it
even comes close to working as a targa, I'll take pictures and share with
the group. I might integrate my rollbar for added support in some way.
Cheers,
