For what its worth, I am living proof that some of the early 1600s came with plugs for the alternator and regulator that are different (smaller) than the ones most often used. I have photos of them, and they stumped Dann (at Rallye) and Stan Chernoff. When I replaced the harness I had to beg the list for the proper plugs (the list came through), and soldered them to the old wires. Seems to be working.
