The easiest thing to do is to get a Bosch LH-jetronic
(no ignition in this system) with 4 injectors (4-cyl)
and make or buy an inlet manifold with a single 2-2.5"
throttle body. Or just get the Bosch components
and buy an aftermarket control unit to run the
engine. There are systems that will use an oxygen
sensor to set up most of the fuel and timing maps.
Camshafts with long duration/overlap would need a
throttle for each cylinder. If twin Solex are replaced
the throttles should be slightly smaller size. Like
changing from 2x44 mm Solex to 40mm throttles.
While doing this on some 280Z engines the critical
duration was about 290 degrees depending on lobe
center angle, before the single throttle body manifold
had problems with rough running at highway speeds.
Nismo rally camshaft (296 degrees) was too much for
a single throttle body on the L28.

I have been working with Bosch FI since the D-jetronic
of the early 1970's. Carbs are "black art" to me. I also
find driveability and torque to be better with FI. However
the Solex type sound is difficult to beat.
