Roman,

Put the alt on and adjust to about 1/3 of the way on (closest to the engine)
the upper alt adjusting bracket and then use a tape measure. I had that
problem when going to a Z alt on my 66. Just bring in the old belt to match
the width and then tell them the length you want.
