And another one.
In France, the MR2 was named the MR at the very last minute, because 2 = deux
and "MRdeux" is pronounced "Merde" (being French for cr*p). Not sure why it
wasn't renamed in Canada.
And in the UK Fiat were going to call the "Strada" the "Rustica" until the
bosses of Fiat UK decided that the car might get a bad reputation for rust
(the 127 and Strada for the Italian market had a Rustica version). As it
turns out, the name was very apt - virtually none survive.
There are more, but none in my book was as good as the Colt Starion, from a
mispronounced Stallion.
