I'm in the process of inspecting/rebuilding my transmission, but I must
admit to be fairly ignorant of the whole thing. Since I want to do this
right, I'm thinking I need to get educated on manual transmissions in
general. I have the original U20/5-speed transmisson manual from Datsun
(in full poor translation glory) and I have the service/repair manual from
Rising Sun Racing archives, but they are both geared to experienced
mechanics. Can anyone recommend some books or perhaps videos that would
help me get a good basic understanding of manual transmissions and their
associated terminology? I know I won't find much more on this particular
transmission, but I would think that if I could find something on the Z
transmissions, it would be close and the terminology should not differ all
that much. I've seen videos on rebuilding American transmissions and that
might be a last resort. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
OT: Congrats Canada. I actually found myself rooting (in general) for
Canada after they got robbed of the gold in the figure skating. I'm quite
pleased it came down to US and Canada and am very happy for Canada. I had
no idea it was such a big deal for them to win gold in hockey. I just
figured they were dominant all along since that is all they do for 9 months
out of the year (I hear things thaw out a little in the summer).
