Hi All,

Wow, this list is a great resource. I have been pondering how to proceed
with my timing problems and I think I have a plan. I wanted to run it by
y'all and see what you think.
It appears that someone has pulled the head on my motor and has had some
work done, but I don't know what. The battery was loose at some point and
smashed the dizzy more than once. On closer inspection the Timing chains are
not installed correctly. Because of the undetermined state of everything I am
inclined to think that the right thing to do would be to rebuild the engine
and make sure that everything is good. Because I am not ready to do that now,
I am thinking about setting up the timing chains properly, putting in a new
dizzy and see how long it will run. It was running well enough that I had
thought about just driving it anyway in it's prior wacky condition, so It
could possibly run well. I was planning to remove what's left of the lower
chain guide and not attempt a repair on that part. I was also contemplating
removing the 'L' but that will depend on how everything goes. If it goes
smoothly I likely will. Otherwise I will leave it.

Ring any alarm bells with anyone?

Thanks,
Moon

p.s. Yeah, this one is pretty much the opposite of Eric's car that hasn't
been run in 30 years... It looks like the carbs have been swapped left for
right, and the linkage that connects them has been cut and welded - it's 2"
long. I haven't seen a diagram yet that looks like my setup at all. I'm
going to try and get a digi camera and put some pics up for the amusement of
all.
