There were two different LSD units made. One works with the 3.70, 3.89, 4.11,
4.88, etc. The other is for the 4.38, 4.63 and 5.13. The latter use an 8-tooth
pinion, which is smaller in diameter than the 9 and 10-tooth pinions in the
first set of gears.
As a result, they made an LSD with a thicker flange for the 8-tooth sets. You
can use these ring and pinions with the other LSD but you need a 4.0 mm spacer
behind the ring gear to do it.

The difference between a 3.70 and a 3.89 is subtle but worthwhile. Going to a
4.11 is a big change and things will be buzzy on the freeway, but you sure will
scoot in the lower gears. I used to run a 4.38 with 185/70 tires and it was no
fun on the freeway but great for autocrossing.
When I first got the car it had a 4.63 in it (ex race car) and 1st gear was
useless. You couldn't get across an intersection without shifting. Good race
gears with a close-ratio box, though. We ran 4.63 and 4.88 in the race car and
still topped out at 130+ at 8000 rpm.
