Bob,
The tear drops on my cars don't have any rubber under them and they work
fine.
As for the spedometer cable, one of my cars has it in front of the
throttle shaft and one das it behind. Both cables clear the shaft just
fine. Both of my cars also have the right angel drive at the trans.
While looking I also noted that the tach cable was routed behind the
throttle shaft.
